How to reach Kedarnath?

The route of Kedarnath temple depends on how you want to go here. The distance from Delhi to Gaurikund is 434 km, which you can cover by bus, train and flight. By flight you can come only till Dehradun, because the nearest airport to Kedarnath is Jolly Grant Airport (Dehradun) and by train you can come only till Rishikesh and Dehradun. By Bus – If you want to travel to Kedarnath by bus, then you can also do this journey by bus. If you are from outside Uttarakhand, then first of all you reach Rishikesh or Haridwar. The distance from Delhi to Rishikesh is 262 km and the distance to Haridwar is 246 km. Buses leave for Sonprayag from Haridwar and Rishikesh at certain times in the morning. So you can reach Sonprayag by these buses. The distance from Rishikesh to Sonprayag is 208 km and the distance from Haridwar to Sonprayag is 234 km which you can cover in 7 to 8 hours.

By Train – If you want to come here by train then the nearest railway stations to Sonprayag are Haridwar Railway Station, Rishikesh Railway Station and Dehradun Railway Station. Private vehicles are available on rent from Rishikesh and Haridwar for Kedarnath and Char Dham. Their fare depends on the vehicle that has how many seats you are choosing. Government buses are also available from Rishikesh and Haridwar for Sonprayag, but their time is fixed in the morning, so you can reach Sonprayag by bus by reaching on time.

By Flight – If you want to do this journey by flight, then the nearest airport to Kedarnath is Jolly Grant Airport (Dehradun). You will get flights to Dehradun from Delhi, Chandigarh and many big airports of the country. You will have to complete the rest of the journey from Dehradun by private car or government buses.

By Helicopter – You can also go to Kedarnath temple by helicopter. You can book a helicopter from Haridwar and Rishikesh. Helicopters for Kedarnath are mainly available from Phata. The fare for a round trip can be around 4000 to 5500. If you return on the same day, then you are given two hours to visit. You are allowed to carry 2 kg of luggage per person. Trek from Gaurikund to Kedarnath Temple?

The length of this trek starting from Gaurikund is about 16 to 18 kilometers. There is a booking office for horses, mules and palanquins at a distance of half a kilometer from the starting gate of the walking path, from where you can book them if you are unable to walk on this walking path and after about a kilometer there is a horse point, from where you can board them.
