How to break the Devshayani Ekadashi fast?

Do not use these things in Ekadashi fast breaking
While breaking the Ekadashi fast, some things should not be used in food even by mistake. The use of radish, brinjal, greens, lentils, garlic-onion etc. in fast breaking is considered forbidden.
Brinjal increases the bile dosha and is an excitant. On the other hand, lentils are considered impure. Radish has a cold effect, so it is not good for health right after the fast. Garlic-onion is a tamasic food, so its use is also forbidden in breaking the fast. It is believed that eating it leads to excitement, anger, violence and unrest.

It is a religious belief that from the day of Devshayani Ekadashi, Lord Vishnu goes to sleep in Kshir Sagar for 4 months and stays there for the entire four months. During this time, the control of the universe is in the hands of Lord Shiva. These four months of Lord Vishnu’s sleeping period are known as Chaturmas.
