The history of Raksha Bandhan is very old. This day has great importance in Hindu religion. On this day, sister ties a Raksha Sutra on the wrist of her beloved brother. According to the ancient story, once Krishna’s finger was cut by Chakra, Draupadi tore the pallu of her saree and tied it on his hand, since then the tradition of celebrating Rakhi started. On this day, the sister lovingly ties Rakhi to her brother and prays to God for his long life and the brother also promises to protect his sister.

According to a legend, Yama, the god of death, did not go to his sister Yamuna for about 12 years. Yamuna felt very sad on this. After this, on the advice of Mother Ganga, Yama decided to go to his sister. When Yamuna ji came to know that her brother was coming to meet her, she became very happy. After this, when Yama reached his sister, Yamuna ji took great care of him. He became very happy on this and asked Yamuna ji, what do you want sister? On which Yamuna ji said, I want to meet you again and again, that is why Yam fulfilled his sister’s wish and said that we will meet again and again on this very day and that day was the full moon of Shravan month.
