Lord Hanuman Born Place (Lord Hanuman Birth Place) – Very few of us know where Hanumanji was born in India. Hanumanji’s mother’s name is Anjana, that’s why he is also called Anjaneya. Hanumanji’s father’s name is Kesari, that’s why Hanumanji is also called Kesari Nandan. Kesari was also called Kapiraj, because he was the king of Kapi Kshetra. Now the question arises that where is this Kapi Kshetra located in India? There are differences among scholars on this subject.

Many scholars consider Chaitra Sud 1 Magha Nakshatra as the birth of Hanumanji due to Kalpadhra. Some believe Kartik Vad 14, some Kartik Sud 15. Some consider the full moon of Chaitra month as the time of his birth and some consider Mahanishako of Kartik, Krishna Chaturdashi, but in most places the full moon of Chaitra month is recognized.
There are differences regarding the birth date of Hanumanji. Some consider the date of Hanuman Janmotsav as Kartik Krishna Chaturdashi and some consider it as Chaitra Shukla Purnima. Both are mentioned in the scriptures, but their reasons differ. In fact, the first is the birthday and the second is Vijay Abhinandan Mahotsav.
1) Anjani Mountain of Dang district
Some scholars believe that Dang district located in Navsari (Gujarat) was known as Dandakaranya Pradesh in the past. Ram had spent 10 years of his life in this Dandakaranya. Dang district is the area of tribals. Nowadays Christian missionaries are active here. However, the main god of the tribals is Ram. Tribals believe that Lord Ram had passed through Dang Pradesh while going towards Panchavati during his exile. Shabari Mata had fed berries to Lord Ram and Laxman near Subir in Dang district. Shabari was from the Bhil community. Today this place is known as Shabari Dham.
Pampa Sarovar is situated on the Purna river at a distance of about 7 km from Shabri Dham. Matang Rishika Ashram was located here. The most strong belief of the tribals of Dang district is that Hanumanji was born in Anjani cave located in Anjana mountain of Dang district.
2) Anjani Temple of Kaithal
Kaithal is a city in Haryana state. It borders Karnal, Kurukshetra, Jind, and Patiala district of Punjab. It is considered to be the birthplace of monkey king Hanuman. Its ancient name was Kapisthal. Kapisthal was a major part of the Kuru Empire. Modern Kaithal was earlier a part of Karnal district.
According to the Puranas, it is considered to be the birthplace of monkey king Hanuman. Hanumanji’s father was called Kapiraj because he was the king of monkeys.
Tourists can also see the remains related to historical and mythological stories in Kaithal. Apart from this, there is also an ancient temple of Hanumanji’s mother Anjani and Ajan Fort.
3) Pampa Sarovar of Gumla
Some people believe that Hanumanji was born in a cave in Anjan village, 20 km away from the district headquarters of Gumla, an insurgency-affected area of Jharkhand state. Bali and Sugriva’s kingdom was in Palkot block of this district. It is also believed that Shabri’s ashram also used to be here.
This area was a part of Dandakaranya region in the Ramayana era. Pampa Sarovar is here where Ram and Lakshman stopped and drank water.
Surrounded by forests and mountains, this Anjan village has a very ancient cave, which is located on the top of the mountain. It is believed that Mata Anjana and Pitakeshari lived at this place. Hanumanji was born here. The entrance of the cave is closed with big stones but the tribal people visit that place through a small hole and offer rice and flowers. But some people also believe that this place is associated with the birth of Mata Anjana.
According to a legend, the tribals were unaware of the fact that Hanumanji and his parents are pleased with those who follow purity and religion. To please Mata Anjana, the tribals sacrificed a goat in front of her cave one day. This made the Mata unhappy and she closed the door of the cave with a huge stone forever. Whoever tries to open the door of this cave now, some calamity will befall him.
The length of this cave is more than 1500 feet, from this cave Mata Anjana used to go to the Khatwa river and return after taking a bath. There is a dark tunnel in the Khatwa river, which leads to the Anjan cave.
According to the belief, during the Ramayana period, sages and munis had established Sapta Janashram on the Anjan mountain of this cave. Seven tribes lived here- 1. Shabar, 2. Vanar, 3. Nishad, 4. Vulture, 5. Naga, 6. Kinnar and 7. Rakshas. The incharges of Janashram were- Agastya, Agastyabhata, Sutikshna, Mandakani, Atri, Sharabhang and Matang. There are ashrams at two places in Chhota Nagpur- one is Anjan and the other is Tanginath Dham.
According to other opinion, some people consider Sujangarh in Churu district of Rajasthan, some in Hamfi and some people consider Anjaneri hill near Trimbakeshwar in Nashik as the birthplace of Hanuman ji.
